The Mission
Social
Venture Partners Greater Tucson inspires and promotes strategic philanthropy,
using a venture capital approach, to affect positive social change in
the greater Tucson metropolitan area. We accomplish this by engaging in
philanthropic education and by investing in innovative nonprofit organizations
using an entrepreneurial model that pools the financial, professional
and human resources of our partners.
SVPGT seeks to catalyze significant, long-term positive social change
in Southern Arizona by:

Educating individuals to be well informed, effective, and engaged philanthropists;

Investing time, expertise, and money in innovative nonprofits to collaboratively strengthen their organizations.
Engaged Venture Philanthropy - SVPGT invests time, expertise and money in nonprofits. We seek collaborative relationships with nonprofits that last for at least three years.
Entrepreneurial Spirit - SVPGT uses innovative approaches to achieve leveraged results in our nonprofit partnerships and communities. We delegate decisions, resources, and authority to those closest to the work.
Philanthropic Education - SVPGT Partners educate themselves and become informed, effective, lifetime philanthropists. Ongoing individual philanthropy is catalyzed through hands-on experience and education.
Community & Collaborative Action - SVPGT believes in the power of collective, self-organized effort. We encourage and maintain a highly-participatory, Partner-driven organization that uses non-hierarchical, low-overhead communications and operating practices. SVPGT supports an open exchange of knowledge and lessons learned, and avoids partisan, religious and political activities.
Mutual Respect - SVPGT respects the expertise of community nonprofit organizations. We form close working relationships with organizations where we can mutually vest in the nonprofit’s success.
Accountability & Results - SVPGT Partners are mutually accountable to each other, our Investees and the community. We achieve and document measurable results, both in our own work and through our partnerships with nonprofits.
