Partner Education and Social Events

Social Venture Partners Greater Tucson has a dual mission. It starts with engaged philanthropy -- our work in direct support of nonprofit organizations. Learning about best practices, regional issues, new trends, and practical, hands-on grantmaking experiences are important to the educational mission of SVP. Programs on philanthropy and issues in the community provide opportunities for Partners to continue their learning, become more knowledgeable and effective in their civic engagement, introduce friends and colleagues to SVP, and interact with their fellow Partners.

Social events centered around a literacy theme, educational events that connect Partners with our Investees and the people they serve, and our annual holiday party, usually held at Partners’ homes, provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, philanthropic networking, strengthening friendships, celebrating successes, and having fun!

A Way to Connect
The vision of the founders was to build a philanthropic community using a venture capital model, where Partners invest in innovative nonprofits, and then actively nurture their financial investments with guidance and resources. SVPGT is a way to engage in a new style of philanthropy that allows Partners to take an active role, as their schedules permit, in the recipients of their financial commitment.

SVP’s educational opportunities and social events along with opportunities to work directly with the nonprofits we support combine to build a community of informed, effective, engaged, lifetime philanthropists who share their knowledge and their passions about philanthropy with one another, helping to grown philanthropy in Southern Arizona, the nation, and across the globe.
